To our partners, supporters, and extended cannabis community,
With both deep appreciation and a heavy heart, I share this formal announcement: the Chamber of Cannabis will officially cease operations effective July 1, 2025. While this marks the end of an era, it is by no means the end of the mission—or the relationships—that have defined our work.
This decision was not made lightly, nor was it prompted by any single event. The challenges that led us here began long before the departure of our co-founders in June 2024. While dissolution had been discussed before that transition, those who remained in leadership gave their full commitment to rebuilding, addressing past shortcomings, and continuing the mission we all believed in.
Ultimately, a combination of inherited structural and reputational challenges, shifting market dynamics, saturation of similar organizations in a relatively small community, declining engagement, and mounting volunteer fatigue contributed to a sustained lack of resources. Despite the tireless efforts of the Transition Task Force and incoming Board to realign priorities, rebuild trust, and recommit to our members, the capacity and resources required to sustain meaningful operations were simply no longer available.
In March 2025, the Board of Directors voted unanimously to approve dissolution, per our Bylaws and Nevada nonprofit law. A Dissolution Task Force was established to guide the process with transparency, compliance, and care. We’re proud to share that every step has been completed with the integrity and thoughtfulness our members and community deserve.
While today marks the public announcement, all members were informed in advance, and we are deeply grateful for their understanding and continued support. Programs and member benefits will continue uninterrupted through June 30, 2025, with the Policy & Regulatory Affairs Committee remaining active for the remainder of Nevada’s 83rd Legislative Session.
We’ve made every effort to communicate clearly and directly with our stakeholders, but we understand that questions may remain. A comprehensive FAQ will be posted to our website by mid-June to help address common concerns. In the meantime, I encourage you to reach out to me, Executive Director Kaufmann, or any current Board member with questions. We remain committed to transparency and support during this transition.
After dissolution, a legacy webpage will go live on July 1, 2025, and remain accessible through December 31, 2025, at cofclv.org/legacy. It will include final reports, FAQs, key governance documents, and contact details. Inquiries may be directed to info@cofclv.org through the end of the year.
Though our operations are ending, our mission—and our shared commitment—lives on. Our work has underscored the ongoing need for representation, equity, and advocacy within Nevada’s cannabis space. While the Chamber may be closing its doors, the need for bold, inclusive, and accountable leadership continues. The individuals behind this organization remain committed to that vision. The challenges persist—and so do we. I know many of us will continue this work in new ways, with new partners, and a renewed perspective.
To our current members, thank you for your continued belief in us. Your support over the past year and through this final phase has meant everything. To our past leaders, members, volunteers, sponsors, and community allies—thank you for paving the road that brought us here and for planting the seeds of change. Whether you were here from the beginning or joined along the way, your contributions helped shape our legacy.
We can all be proud of the impact we’ve made together. And while the full list of accomplishments is long, here are just a few of the milestones we achieved together:
These achievements not only reflect organizational effort but also the power of collective action and a shared belief in progress, equity, and accountability within Nevada’s cannabis industry.
To explore more of what we accomplished:
Following the conclusion of Nevada’s legislative session, our Executive Director, Abby Kaufmann, will be sharing a personal reflection on both her individual journey and our collective experience as an organization. Her words will offer a deeper look into the challenges we faced, the values that guided us, and the legacy we leave behind.
One final thought—this closure is not a failure. We did meaningful work together, and that work matters. While we may be closing this chapter, the story isn’t over. What comes next is up to all of us. Let’s stay connected, and let’s keep doing the work.
